An eel saves the blank...

Well the last 2 sessions i have had on the Tidal Trent have been in completely different conditions and both with similar outcomes. The first was a Sunday evening with the river high and pulling through, i fished at the top of the flood bank onto what i know is a large area of gravel which was in a slack with water still flowing over in nicely. Comfortably holding with 4 oz feeders i was expecting to pick up quite a few fish. Trying various baits from Teme Severn lamprey boilies, spiced liver and lamprey boiles, lamprey pellets, ccmoore xxx boilies and luncheon meat. The only interst i had all evening was a eel of about 2lb which saved the blank.

The next session was on a Friday eveing 2 weeks later and the river was back down to a reasonable level and i could comfortably hold out in the main fow in a biated area with 5oz feeders, though with evering feeling right i recieved not even a tap on the tip. The only reason i can think of the river being that quite is that the fish have fed so well when the river has been high and they were not bothered now its returend to normal levels. Hopefully in the next week everything will settle down and i will be able to get out on the bank again.
