Estate Lake Carp Rig- Versatile For A Clear Swim Or Weed Bed.

When i arrived at the lake i could see there was a covering of weed, around 8/10 inches deep. Hence i wanted a rig to over come this and act as a piece of falling particle through the layers of weed. However what we have witnessed over the last year is the carp's ability to clear this weed whilst feeding, therefore i need a rig that is able to also present a bait on a clear bed.

Components required:

How to tie the rig:
Step 1- Cut a piece of braid around 30cm long and tie a simple loop at one end for the hair.

Step 2- Cut a small piece of silicone tubing and thread onto a rig needle.

Step 3- Using the needle thread to silicone tubing onto the braid.

Step 4- Feed the point of the hook through the silicone tubing being careful not to catch the braid as well.

Step 5- Using a baiting needle thread two pieces of fake sweetcorn onto the hair and tighten up the braid between the base of the hook and the top surface of the face corn; moving the silicone tubing onto the curve of the hook.

Step 6- Tie a knot-less knot

Step 7- Thread a piece of heat shrink tubing onto the braid and increase the angle of the hook. Also apply a small ball of tungsten putty around 5 cm away from the hook, this ensures the hook has a small amount of pressure aiming to set the hook in the bottom lip. To finish the rig tie a simple loop in the braid going back through the loop 3 times at the opposite end to the hook.

The rig now allows the fake corn to be popped up at an ideal distance off the lake bed if there is no weed.

Whilst also being able to be popped up over a carpet of weed as the tungsten putty is not heavy enough to fall through the weed.

The result of using this rig first time out, a scale perfect uncaught common at 15.09.
