First Session Of The 13/14 On The Trent

I had planned to fish the Estate Lake again but with a quick change of plan i headed for the Tidal Trent after cricket. Arriving on the bank at around 9:15pm, i spoke to a few other anglers who had all blanked. The first thing i did was ball in around 20 grapefruit sized balls of hemp, sweetcorn, bread crumb and CSL. The swim was then rested whilst i set up two rods on a 5oz running feeder.

I initially started off fishing a single Teme Severn Lamprey boilie glugged in barbel activator pro , but after an hour this produced no bites. Feeding another 10 balls in i switched to a large Teme Severn Lamprey pellet.

Sitting back and watching the rod tips which were pointing skywards silhouetted against a full moon the down scream rod bent over double and i picked the rod up before a sound was let out of the alarm. After an energetic fight i netted my first barbel of the 13/14 season, around the 6lb mark she was soon slipped back into the surprisingly warm Trent water. Packing up around 11:45pm i was content with my firts barbel of the season and it was job done!
